Scope

This standard specifies five identifiable encryption mechanisms, which achieve the following security objectives by defining the processing methods of data strings:
—— Data confidentiality, protecting data from being leaked to unauthorized parties;
—— Data integrity, ensuring that data recipients can verify whether the data has been modified;
—— Data source authentication, ensuring that data recipients can verify the identity of the data originator.
This standard provides ASN.1 definitions for the five identifiable encryption mechanisms.
