Scope

This specification is part of the VXI bus series specifications and defines a TCP/IP-VXI bus interface device. The only network directly mentioned in this specification is one that supports the Internet Protocol Suite. The technology defined in this specification can be applied to other networks (such as networks supporting the OSI protocol standard), but this section does not address related conversions. This specification uses Open Network Computing (ONC) remote procedure calls (RPC) at the upper layer of the Internet Protocol Suite. The TCP/IP-VXI bus interface device can also support other network protocols.
