Scope

This standard specifies the basic requirements for anti-static and non-anti-static breathing tubes and tubes that can be cut to length. These tubes are used in conjunction with anesthesia machines, ventilators, humidifiers, and nebulizers. This standard also applies to breathing tubes supplied after being assembled with Y-pieces, or breathing tubes supplied as individual parts for assembly according to the manufacturer's instructions before use.
Breathing tubes are equipped with assembly ends with conical connectors, or smooth ends (straight or conical).
Breathing tubes for special purposes, such as those with special compliance requirements for ventilators, are not within the scope of this standard.
