Scope

This document specifies the operating conditions, technical requirements, inspection and testing methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, and transportation of steel rail flaw detection vehicles. This document is applicable to the design, manufacture, and inspection of steel rail flaw detection vehicles (hereinafter referred to as "flaw detection vehicles") using ultrasonic technology on 1,435 mm gauge railways. Flaw detection vehicles for non-standard gauge railways may be implemented with reference to this document.
