Scope

This standard specifies the operating conditions, model and power series, general requirements, traction performance requirements of the whole machine, main component requirements, safety equipment and accident prevention devices, inspection and test methods, inspection rules, marking, packaging, transportation, and storage of heavy railcars (hereinafter referred to as "railcars").
This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and inspection of heavy railcars powered by diesel engines with a standard gauge of 1,435 mm. The maximum loading power of a single diesel engine on a heavy railcar is generally less than 1,000 kW.
