GB/T 21782.3-2008 Coating powders—Part 3:Determination of density by liquid displacement pyknometer

Scope

This part of GB/T 21782 specifies the liquid displacement pycnometer method for determining the density of powder coatings. This method is based on the determination of the mass and volume of the sample. The equipment specified in this method is relatively inexpensive, but the liquid displacement pycnometer method may yield incorrect results, especially when the powder expands with the displacement liquid, or when the displaced liquid does not completely displace the air in the powder particles. The liquid displacement method is slower to use, less accurate than GB/T 21782.2—2008 "Determination of Density by Gas Comparative Pycnometer Method (Arbitration Method)", and this method is only used when it can be confirmed that it yields the same results as the gas comparative pycnometer method.
