Scope

This standard specifies the method of radiographic inspection and quality assessment grading for circumferential butt joints of metal pipes subjected to fusion welding. This standard applies to circumferential butt joints of metal pipes with a wall thickness of (2–175) mm. It can also be used as a reference for welded pipe fittings (tees, elbows) and welded pipes (longitudinal seams, spiral seams). This standard does not apply to butt joints welded by mechanical methods such as friction welding and flash welding.
