GB/T 7690.5-2013 Reinforcements—Test method for yarns—Part 5:Determination of fiber diameter for glass fiber

Scope

This part of GB/T 7690 specifies two test methods for determining the average diameter of fibers in glass fiber products (i.e., the average value of the actual diameter), namely the longitudinal method and the cross-sectional method.
This method is applicable to defined-length fibers or continuous fibers in glass fiber products.
The average diameter should not be confused with the nominal diameter. The nominal diameter is used to name the yarn and its constituent materials, and it is a rounded value related to the average diameter.
