Scope

This document defines the rules and guidelines for ontology development, aiming to better support the interoperability of geographic information on the Semantic Web. The Web Ontology Language (OWL) is the language applicable to ontologies. This document defines the conversion of UML static view modeling elements used in geographic information standards to OWL, and further defines the conversion rules from application patterns based on a common element model to OWL. This document does not define the rules for semantic operators and service ontologies, nor does it develop any ontologies.
