Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, test methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, transportation, storage, quality certificates, and contract (or order form) contents for synthetic rutile.
This standard applies to synthetic rutile products produced using ilmenite as raw material and methods such as pre-oxidation, weak reduction acid leaching, or strong reduction rusting, as well as synthetic rutile products used in the production of titanium tetrachloride and as coatings for welding electrodes. Synthetic rutile products produced by other methods may be implemented as a reference.
