Scope

This part of GB/T 31843 specifies the data communication requirements between maritime electronic instruments and navigation and radio communication equipment interconnected through corresponding interfaces.
This part is designed to support one-way serial data transmission from a single transmitter to one or more receivers. The data can be output in ASCII format and may also contain any specified sentence information or information encoded according to the rules of proprietary sentences. The typical length of the information can range from 11 characters to 79 characters, and the repetition rate is usually required to be once every 20 ms.
The electrical definitions in this part are designed to accommodate higher rates than those specified in IEC 61162-1. Since there are only limited error-checking functions, no guarantee can be provided for message transmission. Therefore, this part should be used with caution in all safety applications.
Appendix A contains a series of relevant International Maritime Organization (IMO) resolutions and International Telecommunication Union (ITU) recommendations applicable to this part.
