Scope
This standard specifies the ultrasonic A-type pulse reflection technology and outlines the methods for inspecting deformed aluminum and magnesium alloy products, including the requirements for inspectors, environment, equipment, materials, sample preparation, inspection methods, and record keeping, reporting, and result interpretation. The methods specified in this standard are applicable to ultrasonic inspections of aluminum and magnesium alloy rolled, extruded, and forged products, with the following applicable product specifications: - Plates and forgings with a thickness of not less than 6 mm; - Profiles with a cross-sectional area of not less than 70 mm2 and a thickness of not less than 6 mm; - Round, square, and hexagonal rods with an inner-circular diameter of not less than 10 mm; - Thick-walled pipes with a wall thickness of not less than 20 mm. This standard is not applicable to castings, welded parts, and sandwich structures.
