Basic Information
Scope
This standard specifies the analytical procedures for determining sodium chloride in food by indirect precipitation titration and potentiometric titration; and provides the analytical procedures for determining sodium chloride in food by direct precipitation titration (Appendix A). The indirect precipitation titration and direct precipitation titration methods in this standard are applicable to the determination of sodium chloride in meat products, aquatic products, vegetable products, cured foods, seasonings, and starch products, but not applicable to the determination of sodium chloride in dark-colored foods; the potentiometric titration method is applicable to the determination of sodium chloride in all the aforementioned types of food and dark-colored foods.
