Scope

This document specifies the requirements and test methods for insulating brackets, insulating down conductors, and their dedicated fasteners. Insulating brackets are used in conjunction with lightning arresters and down conductors to maintain an appropriate separation distance; insulating down conductors can reduce the separation distance. This document does not include tests for insulating brackets and insulating down conductors used in explosive environments. The performance requirements and test methods for other types of isolation components of lightning protection systems are currently under study.
