Scope

This document applies to low-voltage arc-extinguishing devices, referred to as AQD. By forming a low-impedance current loop, it eliminates arc faults in low-voltage switchgear (typical low-voltage switchgear and control equipment in accordance with the IEC 61439 series) and transfers the arc current to a new current loop. This new current loop will remain in place until the short-circuit protection device (SCPD) disconnects the short-circuit current.
These devices are installed in the main distribution lines of low-voltage switchgear, preferably as close as possible to the main power supply.
The rated voltage does not exceed 1,000 V AC or 1,500 V DC.
