GB 20888.1-2013 Machinery for forestry—Safety requirements and testing for pole-mounted powered pruners—Part 1:Machines fitted with an integral combustion engine
Basic Information
Scope
This part of GB 20888 specifies the safety requirements and test methods for rod-type side-mounted power pruning saws (hereinafter referred to as side-mounted pruning saws) driven by internal combustion engines and transmitting power to cutting attachments via a drive shaft. In this part, cutting attachments refer to saw chains and saw blades with an outer diameter of not more than 205 mm that perform reciprocating or rotating movements. This part proposes methods to eliminate or reduce various hazards caused by the use of side-mounted pruning saws powered by internal combustion engines, and stipulates the requirements for safety operation information provided by manufacturers.
This part covers all major hazards associated with side-mounted pruning saws during normal use and reasonable, foreseeable misuse, but does not address the electric shock hazard caused by overhead cables, which has already been warned against in the operating manual.
