Scope

This standard specifies the classification, naming, and coding of headphones, as well as the inspection items, technical requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, and product information, packaging, transportation, and storage requirements for headphone products.
This standard applies to headphones and headphone-microphone sets (headphone-transmitter sets) used on or inside the human ear. This standard also applies to components necessary for a complete headphone system, such as preamplifiers, passive networks, and power supplies.
This standard does not apply to wireless headphones or noise-canceling headphones.
