Scope
This standard specifies the fatigue test of metal specimens under given torque, constant amplitude, nominally subjected to elastic stress, and without causing stress concentration. The test is usually conducted under atmospheric conditions at room temperature (10 °C to 35 °C), with loading applied along the longitudinal axis of the specimen. This standard applies to the cutting, preparation, and testing of circular cross-section specimens and circular pipe cross-section specimens. It does not include tests on components and other special types. Similarly, it does not include low-cycle torsional fatigue tests controlled by constant amplitude angular displacement, whose failure cycles are usually only a few thousand times.
