Scope

This document specifies the technical requirements for the safety of sea-going vessels, including ship certificates, documents and materials, crew members, hull structure, navigation safety, loading conditions and stability, fire protection, life-saving equipment, mechanical and electrical equipment, pollution prevention, and ship communication.
This document applies to Chinese-registered sea-going vessels of 500 gross tons and above navigating in all sea areas.
This document does not apply to non-motorized vessels, military vessels, government service vessels, sports vessels, fishing vessels, or vessels that need to be urgently put into service due to natural disasters, emergencies, or military purposes.
