Scope

This document provides guidelines for assessing the surface flame spread of electrical and electronic products and the materials used in them. It includes:
——An explanation of the principle of surface flame spread of liquids and solids;
——Guidelines for selecting test methods;
——Guidelines for applying and interpreting test results;
——References.
This document is intended for use by technical committees when preparing standards in accordance with the principles set out in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51.
