Scope

This standard specifies the requirements, testing methods, inspection rules, and marking, packaging, and storage for non-asbestos fiber reinforced rubber sheets (hereinafter referred to as rubber sheets) used as gaskets in marine applications. This standard applies to the design, manufacture, and acceptance of gasket materials for sealing marine piping systems that operate at temperatures not exceeding 350 °C and nominal pressures not exceeding 4.0 MPa, and are used to transport gases, water, steam, oil, and medium-concentration acids and alkalis. Sealing materials for other equipment and pipelines can also be used as a reference.
