Scope

This document describes the method for determining the bending creep of plastic standard specimens under given pretreatment, temperature, and humidity conditions.
This document is only applicable to tests with free support at both ends and central loading (three-point bending tests). This document is suitable for non-reinforced, filled, and fiber-reinforced hard and semi-hard plastic materials. It is applicable to molded specimens of specified dimensions, specimens machined in the center of multi-purpose specimens, or specimens machined from finished or semi-finished products such as molded parts, extruded or cast boards.
Note 1: Due to the different fiber orientation, this document may not be applicable to some fiber-reinforced materials.
Note 2: Bending creep can vary greatly depending on specimen preparation, specimen size, and test environment. The thermal history of the specimen can also have a significant impact on the creep behavior of the specimen (see Appendix A).
This document is not applicable to the determination of bending creep performance of rigid foamed plastics.
The method described in this document can provide data for engineering design, research, and development. If used for engineering design, the plastic materials are tested under a wide range of internal stresses, time, and environmental conditions.
