Scope
This standard specifies the equipment, gas supply, samples, test process, calculation of mass change, analysis of mass change, evaluation of samples after the test, and test reports for isothermal exposure oxidation tests of metal materials under high-temperature corrosion conditions.
This standard is applicable to the thermal cycling corrosion test (i.e., cyclic oxidation test) of metal materials in a gaseous environment from ambient temperature to high temperature (each sample undergoes a series of repeated, regular, and controlled temperature cycles). After appropriate adjustments, it can also be used for testing other materials.
This standard is not applicable to tests with extremely short holding times (a few minutes or seconds).
