Scope

This standard specifies the test methods for the resistance to filiform corrosion of surface paint and varnish coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys, as well as the evaluation methods for the degree of filiform corrosion.
This standard is only applicable to surface paint and varnish coatings on aluminum and aluminum alloys, and is used to evaluate the resistance to filiform corrosion of the tested coatings/substrates.
This standard is not applicable to the evaluation of the resistance to filiform corrosion of aluminum-based surface coatings such as electrophoretic paints and acrylic resin coatings that are not resistant to saturated gaseous hydrochloric acid.
