Scope

This part of GB/T 5535 specifies the method for determining the unsaponifiable matter content of animal and vegetable oils by ethyl ether extraction. This part is applicable to the determination of the unsaponifiable matter content of general animal and vegetable oils. It is not applicable to waxes. For certain oils with high unsaponifiable matter content, such as marine animal oils, only approximate results can be obtained. When the climate conditions or regulations do not allow the use of ethyl ether, the method of GB/T 5535.2 can be used instead.
