Basic Information
Scope
This document describes how an ERP system or third-party system exchanges information with a metering system in utility business applications. Specifically, this technical specification covers the mapping between information exchange messages of CIM-based ERP or third-party systems and DLMS/COSEM-based metering systems. A typical metering system typically includes a front-end system (HES) and some terminal devices, such as (electricity) meters and rate and load control devices. In the metering system, there may be intermediate devices, such as the NNAP (community network access point) and LNAP (local network access point) described in IEC 6205610. These intermediate devices are not within the scope of this technical specification. The CIM ReadingType, EndDeviceControlType, and EndDeviceEventType codes specified in IEC 619689 are mapped to the OBIS (Object Identification System) codes specified in IEC 620561. Sometimes, the structures of the CIM model and COSEM model are different, in which case it is not possible to provide a one-to-one mapping between OBIS codes and CIM data type codes. In this case, such a mapping is performed between CIM UML (Unified Modeling Language) object attributes and COSEM object attributes (see 4.3.4 UC3). The CIM EndDeviceControlType codes specified in IEC 619689 are mapped to the COSEM IC (interface class) attributes and methods specified in IEC 620562. The CIM verbs and nouns specified in IEC 619689 are mapped to the DLMS service requests and responses specified in IEC 620565. To illustrate possible applications, only some of the most commonly used UCs (use cases) are given. Extensions may be considered in future versions.
