Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements for handheld and manually operated probe assemblies used in electrical measurement and testing, as well as related accessories. These probe assemblies are used as non-contact or direct electrical connections between components and testing and measurement equipment. They may be permanently installed on equipment or may be removable accessories of the equipment.
The main purpose of this document is to serve as a safety standard for products mentioned in its scope, but it is also applicable to documents developed by technical committees in accordance with the principles set forth in IEC Guide 104 and ISO/IEC Guide 51 for products similar to those mentioned in the scope of this document.
