Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, inspections, tests, markings, certificates of conformity, and re-tests for valves used for fugitive media, as well as the leakage measurement method using the suction method.
This standard applies to shut-off valves and control valves that handle media that may generate volatile pollutant gases or dangerous gases, and it specifies the test procedures for evaluating external leaks at the connection points between the valve stem (or shaft seal) and the valve body.
This standard does not apply to the end connections of valves, vacuum applications, or situations involving corrosion or radiation.
