Scope

This standard specifies the requirements for the use, rated values, design, structure, and testing of rigid gas-insulated transmission lines (GILs) with a rated voltage of 72.5 kV or higher and a rated frequency of 50 Hz. The insulation of these lines is, at least partially, achieved by non-corrosive insulating gases that differ from the air under atmospheric pressure.
