Scope

This document specifies the characteristics of ultrasonic nondestructive testing probes, including focused and non-focused types, with a center frequency range of 0.5 MHz to 15 MHz.
a) Single-crystal or double-crystal contact probes that generate longitudinal or transverse waves.
b) Single-crystal immersion probes.
The ultrasonic velocities used in this document are based on the longitudinal wave velocity (5,920±50) m/s and the transverse wave velocity (3,255±30) m/s in steel.
This document does not include periodic testing methods for probes. Periodic testing methods for on-site verification of probe performance are provided in ISO 22232-3.
During probe use, if it is necessary to test probe performance parameters not included in ISO 22232-3, refer to the corresponding testing methods in this document.
This document does not include phased array ultrasonic probes. For phased array ultrasonic probes, refer to ISO 18563-2 separately.
