Scope

This part of GB/T 21421 specifies the dimensions, mechanical and electrical characteristics of suspension and tension composite insulator strings (hereinafter referred to as insulators) used in overhead lines.
This part is applicable to insulators used in AC overhead lines with a nominal voltage of more than 1,000 V and a frequency of not more than 100 Hz.
This part is also applicable to insulators of similar structures used in substations or electric traction lines.
This part is applicable to insulators whose connection structure complies with GB/T 21421.1—2008.
General definitions and test methods are given in GB/T 19519—2014.
