Scope
This standard specifies the method for determining the content of polymerized triglycerides in animal and vegetable oils using high-performance size-exclusion chromatography. The applicable range of content is not less than 3% (calculated by peak area).
This standard is applicable to frying oils and oils after heat treatment, and can also be used for the determination of polymers in animal feed fats.
Note 1: Polymerized triglycerides (i.e., dimer and oligomer triglycerides) are formed during the heating process of oils. This method is used to evaluate the thermal degradation of frying oils.
Note 2: When analyzing fats in animal feed, the extraction method used has an impact on the results (see ISO 6492).
