Scope

This standard specifies the chemical analysis methods for carbon, silicon carbide, and nitride refractory materials and raw materials. The items analyzed in this standard are as follows: volatile matter (VOL), loss on ignition (LOI), total carbon (T.C), free carbon (F.C), silicon carbide (SiC), total nitrogen (T.N), total oxygen (T.O), silicon nitride (Si3N4), free silicon (F.Si), free aluminum (F.Al), silica (SiO2), alumina (Al2O3), iron oxide (all valence states of iron are calculated as Fe2O3), titanium dioxide (TiO2), calcium oxide (CaO), magnesium oxide (MgO), potassium oxide (K2O), sodium oxide (Na2O), phosphorus pentoxide (P2O5), zirconium oxide (hafnium) (ZrO2+HfO2), manganese oxide (all valence states of manganese are calculated as MnO), and chromium trioxide (Cr2O3). The measurement ranges of the analysis items in this standard are shown in Table 1.
