Scope

This document specifies the requirements for watertight and rapid drainage recesses and the watertightness, drainage time, and bulwark height of stern cabins on small boats with a hull length of not more than 24 m (see Reference [1]).
This document covers recesses located on elevated components.
This document does not specify the size, shape, or location of recesses or stern cabins. This document only considers drainage by gravity, not by pumps or other methods.
This document only considers the normal operating conditions of small boats. The issues of recesses on unmanned small boats are not within the scope of this document.
This document does not guarantee that the water in watertight or rapid drainage recesses or stern cabins will not affect the stability and buoyancy of small boats covered in ISO 12217-1, ISO 12217-2, and ISO 12217-3.
