Scope

This section specifies the necessary dimensions for installing Class I, II, III, and VI passenger elevators (as defined in 2.2).
The dimensions given in this section reflect the requirements of the equipment. Attention should be paid to relevant national standards, which may require larger dimensions in certain cases.
This section applies to all elevators installed in new buildings with one entrance and exit for the car, and is independent of the drive system. However, if the counterweight is side-mounted, a through entrance and exit can be provided, which may require an increase in the depth dimensions of the shaft. In relevant cases, it can also serve as a basis for the installation of elevators in existing buildings.
For elevators that do not conform to the main parameters and the types and dimensions of the car, shaft, and machine room specified in this section, consult the manufacturer.
This section does not apply to elevators with speeds exceeding 6.0 m/s. For such elevators, consult the manufacturer.
