Scope

This part of GB/T 20257 specifies the symbols and annotations of various landforms and topographic elements depicted on 1:5,000 and 1:10,000 topographic maps, as well as the standards for their grades, specifications, and colors, the specifications for map decoration, and the principles, requirements, and basic methods for using these symbols. This part is applicable to the mapping of 1:5,000 and 1:10,000 topographic maps, and it also serves as a basic reference for various departments to use topographic maps for planning, design, and scientific research. It can also be used as a reference for preparing geographic base maps of other types of maps.
