Scope
This document applies to electric light sources in road vehicle lighting devices and/or optical signaling devices (see Note 1).
It is particularly applicable to light sources listed in United Nations Resolution R.E.5 and those subject to other regulations.
This document specifies the technical requirements for interchangeability, including dimensions, photoelectric performance, and corresponding measurement methods.
For the light sources listed in this document, the data sheets are either included in this document or referenced in United Nations Resolution R.E.5.
IEC 60810 specifies requirements for light source lifespan, torque strength, and resistance to vibration and impact.
IEC 60983 specifies requirements for small road motor vehicle bulbs used for auxiliary purposes that are not covered by regulations.
