Scope
This part applies to light bulbs (filament bulbs and discharge bulbs) used as headlights, fog lights, and signal lights for road motor vehicles. It is particularly applicable to those light bulbs covered by regulations. Specifically, it includes those covered by Regulations No. 37 and No. 99 contained in the Geneva Agreement of March 20, 1958 of the United Nations Economic Commission for Europe (ECE).
This part specifies the test methods and technical requirements for basic interchangeability (dimensions and photoelectric performance) of product light bulbs and standard light bulbs. Most of the requirements specified can be found in the "Related Data Sheets". For all light bulbs listed in Chapter 5, the data sheets are included in this part.
