Scope

This standard specifies the relevant information and standard conditions for the effective implementation of noise testing for liquid pumps or pump units (see 4.1), as well as the methods for measuring, labeling, and verifying the airborne noise emitted by them under standard conditions. It also covers the methods for measuring the noise of liquid pumps or pump units, the operating and equipment conditions for the test. The noise emission characteristics include sound power levels and emission sound pressure levels at specified points. The measurement of these quantities can be used for: -- labeling noise emission values; -- controlling noise sources during the design phase. The measurement of these quantities is also necessary for comparing the noise of liquid pumps on the market. The application of this standard ensures the reproducibility of airborne noise emission characteristics within certain limits, which are determined by the accuracy level of the methods used for airborne noise measurement. The noise measurement methods covered by this standard include the engineering method (level 2) and the simplified method (level 3). This standard does not apply to the noise of liquid pumps with structural and liquid conduction issues.
