Scope

This standard specifies the method for determining histamine, putrescine, cadaverine, tyramine, spermine, and spermidine in fish meal and meat and bone meal by high-performance liquid chromatography. The chemical names, molecular formulas, and relative molecular masses (based on the 1999 International Relative Atomic Mass) of the six biogenic amines are listed in Appendix A.
This standard is applicable to the determination of histamine, putrescine, cadaverine, tyramine, spermine, and spermidine in fish meal and meat and bone meal derived from animal sources. The detection limit is 0.5 mg/kg.
