Scope

This standard specifies the marking of crimped-type detachable contacts for electrical connectors. The marking consists of two colored bands on the outer diameter of the crimp barrel. For thermocouples or high-temperature contacts, letters or colored dots may be added. The marking may also use additional codes to indicate other relevant parameters, such as matching cable specifications and materials. The contact marking specified in this standard applies to contacts that comply with relevant international standards (ISO). For preferred and non-preferred contacts, the use of the marking is recommended. Preferred contacts have the same specifications for the mating end and the wires that can be accommodated in the crimp barrel. Non-preferred contacts have different specifications for the mating end and the wires that can be accommodated in the crimp barrel within a matching range.
