Scope

This standard specifies the terms and definitions, general requirements, inspection equipment, comparison samples, selection of plate wave patterns, inspection methods, and defect evaluation for ultrasonic plate wave inspection of metal plates.
This standard applies to metal plates with a thickness not exceeding 5 times the surface wave wavelength of the inspected plates, but it must be confirmed that the ultrasonic waves excited are indeed plate waves and can be inspected with sufficient sensitivity.
