GB/T 15597.1-2009 Plastics—Poly(methyl methacrylate)(PMMA)moulding and extrusion materials—Part 1:Designation system and basis for specifications
Basic Information
Scope
1.1 This part of GB/T 15597 specifies the naming system for polymethyl methacrylate (PMMA) materials used in thermoplastic applications, which can serve as the basis for classification.
1.2 PMMA plastics are classified based on the following characteristics and performance, as well as information on intended applications and/or processing methods, key properties, additives, and colorants:
a) Vicat softening temperature;
b) Melt flow rate;
c) Viscosity (optional).
1.3 This part of GB/T 15597 applies to all PMMA homopolymers and copolymers, where the copolymer contains at least 80% methyl methacrylate (MMA) by mass, and the content of acrylate or other monomers does not exceed 20% by mass.
It applies to materials in pellet or granular form for normal use, as well as unmodified materials and those modified with colorants or additives.
This part of GB/T 15597 does not apply to elastomer-modified PMMA.
1.4 This method does not imply that materials with the same name must have identical properties. This part of GB/T 15597 does not provide engineering data, performance data, or processing conditions for materials intended for special applications and/or processing methods.
If additional performance data are required, they can be measured according to the methods specified in Part 2 of GB/T 15597.
1.5 For special applications of thermoplastic materials or to ensure reproducible processing, additional requirements can be specified in Character Set 5 (see Chapter 3, preceding paragraph).
