Scope

This standard applies to parallel capacitors and parallel capacitor banks installed on the AC side of high-voltage DC transmission converter stations, which are used to provide reactive power compensation, as well as AC filter capacitors and AC filter capacitor banks used to filter AC-side harmonics and provide reactive power compensation at a fundamental frequency of 50 Hz or 60 Hz. The purpose of this standard is to: a) set out unified rules regarding performance, testing, and specifications; b) establish special safety rules; c) provide installation and operation guidelines.
