Scope

This document specifies the functional requirements for urban rail transit and urban (suburban) rail transport management and command/control systems that adopt communication-based train control system technology for urban rail passenger transport lines and networks. This document applies to new urban rail lines or lines upgrading existing signal and command control systems that adopt communication-based train control system technology, and to applications that utilize the following technologies: continuous data communication; continuous monitoring of train movement through train protection mode curves; train positioning using on-board UGTMS equipment (reporting trains); and external ground-based (and optional on-board) devices for non-reporting trains.
