Scope

This document describes the ultrasonic propagation time method for flow measurement of hydraulic turbines, storage pumps, and pump-turbines, including measurement principles, testing methods, device location and selection, device installation and commissioning requirements, and evaluation of test data quality. This document is applicable to on-site flow measurement of hydraulic turbines, storage pumps, and pump-turbines in pressurized pipelines with circular or rectangular cross-sections, with a diameter or equivalent diameter of not less than 0.8 m. This document is applicable to flow measurement using ultrasonic propagation time devices with internally mounted or externally inserted transducers, but not applicable to flow measurement using externally mounted transducers.
