Scope
This standard is one of a series of standards related to the sampling and testing of paints, varnishes, printing inks, and related products. This standard specifies the method of measuring the grinding fineness of paints, varnishes, and printing inks using a suitable fineness plate (with a scale of micrometers). This standard applies to all types of liquid paints and varnishes and related products. Among them, the 100-μm fineness plate is suitable for general occasions, but the 50-μm fineness plate, especially the 25-μm fineness plate, can only yield reliable results when operated by skilled laboratory personnel. When judging readings less than 10 μm, special caution should be exercised.
