Scope

This document describes the method of determining the chemical oxygen demand (COD Cr) in boiler water and cooling water using the rapid method of potassium dichromate.
The volumetric method described in this document is suitable for determining the chemical oxygen demand (COD Cr) in boiler water and cooling water ranging from 10 mg/L to 1,000 mg/L (calculated as oxygen); the spectrophotometric method and the rapid spectrophotometric method are suitable for determining the chemical oxygen demand (COD Cr) in boiler water and cooling water ranging from 15 mg/L to 1,000 mg/L.
This document is also applicable to the determination of chemical oxygen demand (CODCr) in surface water, groundwater, domestic wastewater, and industrial wastewater.
