Scope

1.1 This standard specifies the norms that should be observed in the manufacture and installation of home elevators. Home elevators are intended for use by a single household only, and they must: a) operate on rails with a tilt angle of no more than 15° in the vertical direction between fixed floor stops; b) be accessible to individuals using or not using wheelchairs; c) be supported or suspended by steel ropes, chains, gears and racks, hydraulic cylinders (directly or indirectly), screws and nuts; d) have an independent shaftway.
