Scope

This document specifies the safety requirements and/or protective measures for the manufacture and installation of household elevators, as well as the verification of these safety requirements and/or protective measures and the requirements for the use of information.
This document applies to household elevators with a rated load not exceeding 400 kg, a rated speed not exceeding 0.63 m/s, and a lifting height not exceeding 18 m.
The household elevators covered by this document are intended for single-family use only and have the following characteristics:
a) In the fixed floor stations, the car runs along a guide rail with an inclination angle not exceeding 15° relative to the vertical line;
b) It is accessible to wheelchair users (see 4.6.2.2.1);
c) The car is suspended or supported by steel ropes, covered ropes, covered belts, chains, screws and nuts, or hydraulic cylinders (directly or indirectly);
d) It has an independent shaft.
In special circumstances (such as fire situations, extreme weather conditions, earthquakes, or the transport of dangerous goods), as well as when elevators are used by disabled individuals, additional requirements must be considered in addition to the requirements of this document.
This document does not apply to elevators that are not intended for single-family use.
